The past few days after the football match was a blur. Everything went so fast without any time to process what was happening. After our first conversation, Bryan and I went to the amusement park and had our first date there. Two days later, we went to watch a movie and he asked me to be his girlfriend in the movie theatre. It was so romantic!

In school the next day, I wanted to keep our relationship a secret because I wasn’t ready for a public relationship yet. However, it turns out that Bryan had already told most of his friends about us!

At lunchtime, he came to sit next to me so I yelled at him as soon as I saw his face.

“What the heck, Bryan? How could you tell all of your friends that we’re dating without asking for my permission?”

At first, Bryan seemed to be frightened of how mad I was but then calmly answered, “You never said I couldn’t.”

Even though I was quite mad about what Bryan did and how he still didn’t apologize, I couldn’t help but notice how upset he looked as all eyes were upon us by now.

So I quickly changed my mind and said, “Maybe I’m wrong in some ways too. I’m sorry for blaming it all on you.”

Hearing that, Bryan’s face suddenly softened and he hugged me tight.

After that day, we both grew closer with each other more than we did before. Nothing seemed to be coming between us and each day was as sweet as cotton candy by having each other on our side.

On one Saturday evening, Bryan called me and asked, “Hey Diana! How are you doing today?”

“I’m fine,” I answered. “What is the matter?”

“What do you mean, what’s the matter? Can’t your boyfriend call you whenever he likes?”

That was kind of cringe for me but I replied soothingly, “I mean you don’t usually call me.”

“Well, I decided to do it more often,” he said.

“That’s great,” I said sarcastically.

“The thing is I wanted to ask you if you and your family want to come over to my house sometime?”

Oh, shoot. I haven’t even thought of telling my relationship with Bryan to my family yet! In fact, I think I’m not taking it seriously at all!

“Well…” I stammered. “If you would like to do so I’ll try to talk to them when they have time.”

“Actually, I was thinking maybe we could meet up tomorrow?”

“What?” I questioned him. “Bryan, why are you always making decisions on your own without asking my opinion even once!”

Even though I loved him and all, I was starting to get annoyed by his behavior these past two weeks.

“I was just suggesting. Why are you being so dramatic?”

Then I had it. It suddenly hit me that this wasn’t the kind of relationship I wanted it to be. I loved the sweetness and comfort Bryan was giving me when things were hard for me but that didn’t mean he could take advantage of me like that.

“Let’s get this clear,” I said sternly. “We are over.”

“What did you just say?” Bryan asked quietly which was unexpected.

“I said that we’re over now which means I am dumping you if you don’t have any common sense.”

“Why?” he asked again.

“Stop asking dumb questions that would change nothing except for wasting my time!” I screamed at him and before he could say anything, I hung up.
